Size matters and I don't go all the way...

I am of course referring to portion size and not eating until I am full...what were you thinking of.....

Due to my illness, I had to half my portion sizes and not eat until I am full. I eat until I am almost full and stop. If I don't I will be in severe pain. I have to admit that pain has been a harsh but excellent Teacher. My portion size now is what you should be eating but as we all have eyes bigger than our bellies we pile more onto our plates than we actually need to eat. Thinking of food for its nutritional value rather than its pleasure value really changed the game for me. Because I have to eat correct portions and not eat until I am full I have to not only pick highly nutritious foods but food that my other conditions will also tolerate, such as IBS. Reading food labels has proven to be a real eye opener. We do not realize the total rubbish we are putting into our mouths most of the time and the amount of unnecessary sugar that is added to foods is scandalous. I have to avoid sugar like the plague so I have been shocked on more than one occasion when reading labels. If you can't be bothered to read labels then just stick to one general rule....eat food that is not processed or even worse ultra processed. Sophie Morris on Instagram is a blessed angel. She reads food labels on everyday foods, breaks down what is in them and offers alternatives. She is based in Ireland but I think where ever you are you will find it helpful.
